I have not got time to unravel the true horrors of this story - and anyway, Professor Daniella Gabor has already done it really well. So I share her tweets from here:

Interesting that you have blogged this. Yesterday I also picked up the story in this article stating that ‘BlackRock’s CEO Larry Fink may now be the most powerful man in the world’ – https://www.counterpunch.org/2020/04/08/blackrock-takes-command. Scary stuff.
You have beaten me to it!
I read that yesterday. It is truly horrific.
I urge all to read it.
Disaster Capitalism is alive and kicking…….
My only dealings with them was a bad investment I made in the 80s with another (small) company.
It turned out to be a tax dodge/scam.
After a case went through the US Courts (about 15 years +) Blackrock handled the pitiful payouts.
I think the name comes from Blackrock NJ.
There has been a clear shift by big capital away from climate change denial to the financialisation of Green Policy. I have no doubts about the integrity of Greta Thunberg but she has been promoted by a variety of NGOs who are also involved in the kind of activities described in the blog.
Big capital is getting ahead of genuine climate change and ensuring that green spending results in an upwards transfer of wealth. The EU is the perfect vehicle for this as they have managed to funnel astronomical amounts of money to the already wealthy through the CAP and QE.
The EU & its member states have form on this. You may or may not recall the CUM-Ex scandal (look it up of you don’t) – the German gov evetually went to the banks that were shafting the German state and asked for help it address the situation – I kid you not. Looks like some half wit in the Commission has given a study or something (500k – chicken feed) to write something. It won’t be corruption (Commissionites are far too well paid for that kind of thing) – just stupidity. Gormless is as gormless does. Probably a know nothing functionaire that has not thought it through. Wonder why they picked Blackcock? I would have done it for half the price & probably have made a better fist of it..
I know Cum-Ex very well…..
It is getting the point where I think most of the post war institutions set up to make a better world seem to have been become vehicles for the rich to make money. It is hard to know what to believe in any more unless all you want to do is make money by ripping people off of siphoning it off somehow.
Disgusting. I go back to my point that it is the individual member states who have to change their unthinking acceptance of market fundamentalism before it is reflected in the EU. Don’t hold you breath.
Will the Labour party now ditch one its key NHS advisors whom I believe worked in the private health sector? Hmmmm.
