I liked this tweet posted on X yesterday:

Is Trump manoeuvring markets with his announcements?
You bet he is.
And the sad fact is, they fall for it, time after time.
So, who is the bigger fool? I leave that to you to decide.
But what needs to be said is we need to cut through the bullshit when it comes to this war (which it is, despite Trump's regime's denials) and look at the reality of what is happening, which is a descent into chaos at ever-growing speed, the consequences of which are going to impact us for a long time to come.

The evidence implies that insider dealing is taking place. Do not expect any serious investigations though. Why? US consumer protection and investigation services were gutted as part of the federal cost cutting.
It looks dodgy does it not – a moment where market information is actually useful for once. This shows us the inherent cynicism of people like Trump – they actually have nothing but contempt for the willing dupes who vote for them. They come in as saviours, but like Farage and many others are all about doubling down on what helps them to get traction in the first place – corporate exploitation.
Fundamentally, this is why we need to nationsalize party political funding. The people who fund politics now are rule breakers, not rule takers. They do not respect ‘democracy’.
But then again, what is there to respect? It should be called ‘demockery’ – once the funders realise that these politicians who have been voted in pivot away from the people who gave them power once a wad of notes is stuffed under their noses it easy to take your gain and also hold the system in contempt.
It’s not the British people who are the problem – it’s the so-called ‘democracy’ that rules them that needs sorting out.
We need that little boy to say, very loudly, ‘The Emperor is wearing no clothes’ (aka Trump is enriching himself and his mates) whenever he makes an announcement.
