Another aspect of tax evasion is that it leaves us dependent on Foreign Direct Investment to stimulate the economy. The Thatcherite revolution sold off our national assets to big capital which extracts huge rents and then demands more and more political concessions to invest in the UK. Renationalising natural monopolies such as water and the railways has to be the first step in stopping the wealth drain that UK suffers from.
As long as there is Freedom of Capital as it currently exists then appropriate taxes will never be paid. I don’t believe that the EU is ever going to reform this area, in fact it primarily exists to allow it. The European elections are in less than five months, will any of the parties put this at the forefront of their election campaign?
An earth shattering figure that.
Awful.
Southern Italy and Greece are notorious for not paying taxes. Increasing in the U.K. I think the majority of self employed who are paid in cash and will underpay. I include builders, golf instructors, personal trainers, painter and decorators.. the list goes on. Many of theses are 40/50ph.. subsidised by the rest of us PAYE mugs. I see a lot of political rhetoric about big business but this lot are having it away and no one is going to touch them. Very frustrating.
This is why I have raised the issue
You should make it the focal point of your campaigning..it is the most blatant form of tax evasion
