Jersey has been found to be at serious fault with regard to child protection failures over many decades.
It is staggering that Stuart Syvret, who spent so long tackling the issue of Jersey's tax abuse had to also expose this issue almost a decade ago, and has suffered badly at the hands of the authorities and even been to prison as a result.
But I am not surprised. I have been a persistent Jersey watcher since 2003. It has not always made me popular there, but I had something important to say and that is that the Jersey government is rotten to its core. It has gone out of its way to assist tax abuse and those seeking financial opacity, but despite all the ongoing warnings made over the last decade children are still apparently at risk in Jersey. What better evidence of the corruption tax haven culture delivers could be there be than that?

Terrible crimes indeed.
If all tax havens had sustained on-going child sex abuse and non-tax havens had none, I might agree with you that there could be a link. But I’m not aware of this.
Perhaps you could list other tax havens where such horrible crimes have been committed?
And how does the sustained child sex abuse in Rochdale, Manchester and other cities whilst Labour were in power fit into this analysis?
The reference I was making to the fact that the Jersey government had been warned of this a decade ago and the abuse still goes on
And I did not say it was tax havens rotten to the core
I said it was Jersey
“…the Jersey government had been warned of this a decade ago and the abuse still goes on”
Sorry, what was the warning about was it about tax abuse or child abuse? And are you saying child abuse continues or tax abuse?
It’s a rather confusing train of thought here.
I’m not sure the two are linked. Are you suggesting that they are?
The warning was on child abuse
And it continues
I know it’s hard for a tax haven brain to follow direct lines, you’re so used to bending reality
This is the perfect illustration of why we scrutinise our elected leaders and our officials in all areas of their work: if you catch them letting things go in one area, you can be sure that they are failing in other ways, too.
