Tax havens harm developing countries

Posted on

Gordon Brown is on message on the impact of tax havens on development. He said yesterday:

At the London Summit we will set out new measures to crack down on the tax havens that siphon off money from developing countries - money that could otherwise be spent on bednets, vaccinations, economic development and jobs.

I am not sure I have seen a senior politician make the explicit link that Christian Aid, Action Aid, War on Want, Oxfam, Global Witness, Tax Justice Network and many others have been making for so long.

It is a vital link.

I applaud him for making it.

I look forward to delivery on the promise.
