These are my links for February 29th:
- Rock bottom: how Granite reflects on financial reporting - 29 Feb 2008 - Just for once, a good article on AccountingWEB
- London loses edge over New York - Accountancy Age - I read the underlying report - and it can't justify the spin placed on it. More corporate hogwash from those in the City who think paying any tax is a threat to their well-being
- FT.com / Asia-Pacific / India - India poised to extend tax net - India is poised to charge the economic substance and not the form of capital transactions. It's paving a necessary path for many to follow
- Monaco: 'We're no Liechtenstein' - Accountancy Age - It's true - Monaco is not land locked. But you're sure as heck a tax haven, all the same
- Ocado chief slams non-dom move - Accountancy Age - This is rubbish - non-doms get no tax advantage if they invest direct in the UK so what he's actually saying is they invested from offshore - and absolutely anyone can do that from abroad if they want. I hate such misinformation
- Comment is free: Every billion helps - Vince Cable, sharing a hymn sheet with TJN
- Tax Justice Network: UK MPs call for tax justice inquiry - Good summary of the week: a week which appears to be a tipping point with regard to the attitude towards tax avoidance
