I was most amused to note this from the Independent:
British-controlled tax havens have demanded to be given a central role in the Brexit negotiation process.
Dr D. Orlando Smith, the premier of the British Virgin Islands, said overseas territories should “have our voice heard” as the UK leaves the EU.
He said the controversial territories required “high level engagement” in the process of the same sort as Scotland and the other devolved nations.
Hang on a moment! I thought these places were independent of the UK? Except when it suits them, it seems.
I would give them a say, and would then start legislating for them to reflect the fact that they'd admitted they were part of the U.K.
I'd start with imposing some taxes so that they pay their way in the world.
And would then require the accounts and beneficial ownership of companies on public record.
Followed by registers of trusts.
How about that as a quid pro quo BVI?

This chap seems to have put his foot in his mouth or is it a Freudian slip?
To me he has declared what is an implicit policy.
To quote Ronen Palan, they want to have their cake and eat it.
Well…..in this age where it seems all have a voice even rogues and vagabonds seem entitled
to an opinion…..human rights guv nor…..innit?
Hi Richard, I post now and then on here using the username Benz0 – but it’s not working any more when I submit comments; it doesn’t show the ‘message pending approval’ anymore. Have I been blocked or something? I’ve tried different browsers and machines to no avail…
Yes, you were blocked
Your new identity has been as well now
Richard, I’ve been commenting on this blog for several years on and off since becoming interested in offshore in 2007 and have never posted anything disagreeable or disruptive. I’ve only ever posted supportive comments towards your work for which I have a huge amount of respect.
One one recent occasion I posted using an alias (as above – Yaknaow) to point out to you that some troll posters were posting using abusive names (e.g. Mike H and Mike L)
I ask this as I wonder if you blocked me too when blocking those people on account of using an alias.
If you simply don’t want me to comment on here then fine, I shall stop, but I can’t see that I’ve done anything to merit being blocked and I’m a bit baffled to be honest.
Kind regards,
Ben

Ben
It does look as though I made a mistake when blocking someone you actually pointed out who needed to be blocked
Apologies
I am human and got this wrong
Richard
Thanks Richard!
