David Cameron has told the Pakistan elite they have to start paying more tax, and cut out government waste and weakness, if the British public are to back his plans announced today to pour £650m in UK aid to Pakistani schools.
Oh wow: make the elite pay more tax!
Deliver the policy at home David, please.
Then, and only then, start lecturing others.
Hypocrisy is running out of control in Islamabad right now, and Cameron's imported it.

Astonishing hypocrisy.
50% tax rate + NI + 20% VAT. isn’t that enough?
Heaven forfend! It might cause property prices in rural England to fall to a level where ordinary people could afford to live there.
@MarkT
No
Becasue as you well know the richest have the lowest effective tax
So make them pay is the real issue
Hardly hypocrisy! In Pakistan very few elites pay tax at all but in the UK we have the governance and institutional structures to enforce tax rules.

People are already paying 40% and 50% how much more do you want them to pay?
@Anon
They’re not paying that rate in many cases
Tax rates fall as wealth increases in the Uk
That’s choice
@MarkT
VAT disproportionately hits the poor.
