Richest 2% own ‘half the wealth’

The BBC has reported on a new report from the World Institute for Development Economics Research at the UN University.

If you do nothing else today please read the BBC report or the press release.

And then realise what effective taxation systems that capture a fair (and no more) proportion of the wealth of those with so much in the world could do for those with so little.

And then muse on the iniquity of the deliberate promotion of tax avoidance, or the evasion that is known to take place in so many tax havens, both if which are designed to increase the wealth of the few at the expense of the many.

And then please consider why those of us in the Tax Justice Network promote the arguments we do.

The poor people of this world need fair taxation.

We have to deliver it. It's the least we can do.
