New Zealand – the little known and deeply pernicious tax haven

Posted on

There's a great report on stuff.co.nz this morning on New Zealand's role as a tax haven.

It's got a dodgy company registry that's more than happy to register nominees form anywhere.

And it's got an almost wholly unregulated offshore trust regime that's a licence to operate for tax evaders everywhere (bar NZ of course: in true tax haven style Kiwis are banned from using these structures).

No one's quite sure how many people are using NZ for tax abuse, but in the current world environment I suspect the number is set to rise as yet another once British outpost sets out to sell corruption to the world.
