Shocking. Nobody mentioned the tax reform which would BOTH cut the tax havens out of the loop entirely AND has no deadweight cost.
All the participants in the debate know about it, or ought to. No wonder the problem is apparently intractable.
Maybe because we – correctly – see it as a small part of the solution
Which is all it is
Even if it were just a small part of the solution, it is a good start since it establishes a revenue stream for the exchequer which cannot possibly be spirited away to a tax haven. Surely that was worth a mention? And I wonder if the ActionAid spokesman had even heard of it?
