This is how to bring about change:

Why couldn't the BBC show this?
Do you think they might not have wanted to show real people demanding change by singing to the music of a scratch orchestra in public?

Thank you, Richard.
The BBC and its peers ensure coverage is slanted towards centrist extremist Macron. He’s their type.
Readers won’t be aware of the posh areas, western suburbs of Paris, where the likes of the BBC’s Hugh Schofield, CNN’s Melissa Bell and Economist’s Sophie Pedder live. They know little about ordinary people and care even less.
Speaking of the BBC, it’s interesting how Dame Janet Smith’s recommendation that should another Saville occur, the BBC should lose its autonomy, has been memory holed.
Much to agree with
“They know little about ordinary people and care even less.”
That’s a bit uncalled for about individual journalists. They’re pitching stories everyday to their editors. Who says they didn’t pitch this one? It’s not up to them what gets on the air.
To be fair, it was reported by Mark Lowen on BBC Radio 4’s “From our own correspondent”. But I agree it could have been more prominent.
Why wouldn’t the BBC show this? – for the same reason they didn’t report the collapse of the trial of a group of PA activists at Woolwich Crown Court.

And for the same reason they didn’t report the judge in the supreme court on the proscribing of Palestine Action interrupting the PA lawyer over a hundred times when he was trying to make his argument against proscription

And for the same reason they didnt show the clip of Victoria Derbyshire being absolutely demolished by Tucker Carlson after she said his anti Israel stance made him antisemitic – which he branded as a smear, and for once she was literally struck dumb

Correct
Uplifting. Powerful way to make to make your voice heard (literally). A political message that inspires, makes people think whilst wholly avoiding violence, aggression and disrespect. In many ways the best of people…coming together as a community and rejecting what are anti-human policies.
This brilliant initiative was started by a young man, Etienne Jarrier who runs the Orchestre du Nouveau Monde – he put out a call on social media for a national campaign to play at demos – yesterday there were 26 playing in cities right across France!!
There is a nice clip on facebook of him singing this:
I SEE THE FUTURE AND IT’S BRIGHT Et pourtant dans le monde – Moustaki
You’ll tell me I’m wrong to sing Of revolution and freedom
That none of it will change a thing
That tomorrow is still too soon
And yet, across the world
Other voices answer mine And yet, across the world
You’ll tell me I’m wrong to raise my voice
And speak the truths I hold inside
That it’s better to stay silent or to lie
And above all, to keep a smile
And yet, across the world
Other voices answer mine And yet, across the world
You’ll tell me I’m right or wrong
But I won’t change my song
I give it to you just as it is
You can make of it whatever you wish
And yet, across the world
Other voices answer mine And yet, across the world
See less
It sounds much better in French!!
As you say, so sad that this positive action is ignored.

And thank you
The media coverage – on both sides of the Channel – of the protests in France and elsewhere has overall been pretty disgusting, and an overall fine example of Completely Missing The Point.
(Even more depressing has been the “comments” made by right-wing trolls and bots on social media and elsewhere as well as YouTube etc. videos making desperate “hack jobs” on them, who are taking part in them, and why they are happening.)
Much to agree with
I could not agree more about how the BBC is so selective.
Given its archival role in our society, it is inexcusable really.
Here’s another one: https://bsky.app/profile/stephlamy.bsky.social/post/3mzgmz7anrs2w
this song ‘j’ai deux passions’ appears to be the latest addition to the canon of street protest songs, think I might learn the lyrics.
Thank you
Taking inspiration from the “Singing Revolution” that led to the restoration of independence for the 3 Baltic countries at the end of the 1980’s?
Sing up Scotland!
L’Orchestre du Nouveau Monde faced the CRS (French Police)’s attack with tear gas too in Paris.. you can see it here: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/9Ud8v0jW52Y
And they were peaceful……………………………………. !
That’s what fascists do with their power.
