Please excuse me if I am distracted today. We are holding our event in Ely.
One reason I can, most of the time, moderate comments fairly promptly and answer a reasonable number is that I no longer spend many of my days engaged in other activities and meetings, as I once did.
Today, however, my focus will be on the event we are holding, talking to people, and then winding down, which might last into tomorrow. As a consequence, please understand that moderation today may take quite a long time.

Buy me a coffee!

Having obtained and finshed a nutritious but somewhat expensive supper at Ely’s central chip shop, I would now like to offer my thanks to Team Murphy, John C and assorted guests for a very inspiring afternoon.
Some take aways for me:
Form alliances – it can be lonely making change happen, sometimes frightening. And you will doubt yourself, it is only human. So someone else to bounce off helps.
Richard and John were very clever about secrecy jurisdictions. They knew that the real thing those in charge were scared of was more work. So, to make it easy for them R & J did the work for them, using their language and formats, a sort Blue Peter ‘here is one we made earlier’ just to speed things up. Very instructive! Very effective. Think about it.
My final point is about using our imagination to create change. This session was not about providing us with one. It was about enabling us to generate one of our own. Richard and John have done a lot of heavy lifting on tax and the financial system already.
It is for us to reflect on what we think we have lost, what new problems we face and how easily we seem to have been bamboozled, choose just one of the problems and work on that to make things better and not so easily surrendered next time?
Please may I formally request that the ‘Solution Based Campaigning’ handout is circulated to attendees at your convenience. This baton must passed on to our children and others asap.
Thank you once again, with love and best wishes,
PSR.

Thank you, so much, for coming yesterday. It was great to finally meet you in person.
I think the day went well, and I hope you enjoyed it. I appreciate your reflections. As I write this, I am sitting in the garden on a genuine autumn morning with a cup of coffee reflecting on the lessons to learn from the discussions yesterday.
There are a lot. I might need a long walk today.
Go well
Richard
