I must be winning

Posted on

Mahatma Gandhi is credited with first saying:

  • First they ignore you: People pay no attention to your ideas.
  • Then they ridicule you: Critics laugh at your attempts to explain those ideas.
  • Then they fight you: Opponents actively push back or argue once the idea gains traction. They can get very angry at the possibility that you might force them to change their world view.
  • Then you win: Your viewpoint is accepted or proven correct, and everyone denies ever disagreeing with it. Your role is forgotten.

I have had a lot of people fighting me over modern monetary theory, bonds and related issues this week.

I must be winning.
