I know that for many people and organisations, today is the last day of work in 2025. It won't be here at Funding the Future.
That said, I have abandoned the idea of getting out our guide to modern monetary theory before Christmas. The analysis I did earlier this week on a Financial Times article on autism and ADHD, to which they have not yet provided any response, delayed that. So too have the after effects of the 'flu I had, as a result of which I'm still feeling tired. The recovery of energy after that bug has been very slow. I've had to face reality as a result, and this guide will now be a goal for early 2026.
Turning to the Christmas theme, I am planning to reduce blog output from this weekend onwards, but it will most certainly not stop. Christmas Day apart, I suspect there will be something every day. I always seem to get a bug to write about something.
When it comes to videos, the plan is to produce one every day, including Christmas Day, though I have to admit they will be pre-recorded. That said, unlike most Christmas specials, the camera has not yet been turned on, but I am hopeful that all will be finished by Tuesday night.
Why do this? Because I recognise that many people get quite bored over Christmas, I think that makes it an ideal moment to keep talking about things that are of interest. I hope you will join us.

and from me and the dog, who sometimes gets told about the issue of the day as I process the information on our walk. She says she is the only MMT dog in the parish. I don’t know how she comes to that conclusion but probably correct.
🙂
Hope that you continue to recover Richard and thanks for a tremendous year of thought evoking blogs.
I am beginning to take it more quietly.
Have greatly appreciated being educated, encouraged and sometimes, excited by your writing, and by the community here, during the most difficult year of my life so far. It’s possibly the most wholesome, respectful well moderated places I encounter online. Happy Christmas and a fiscally revolutionary caring political well funded peaceful 2026 from the omnibus.
Thanks Robert, and go well.
Thank you! I will be reading/ watching. I’m working 25-28 but afternoons so there’s always time for Taxresearch with the morning brew.
I used to take leave between Christmas and new year to take stock and reflect as the days start imperceptibly to lengthen. Only two days until the solstice folks!
Taxresearch with the morning brew – what my wife does when doing final checks.
A very merry Christmas to all of you.
And a very merry Christmas too to everyone who reads, views, contributes to and shares the vital work that you do.
Thanks. And to you.
Thank you for all your hard work in ’25 – happy Christmas break and all the best for ’26.
The break has not begun yet…
Glad to hear there will be still posts to read and videos to watch over christmas – after all, money never sleeps!
Perhaps you could do an alternative to the Kings speech?
May I wish you Richard, and your family, a Christmas Blissmas!
Thanks
And wait and see….
