Colonisation, 2025 style

Posted on

A supposed post-conflict deal for Gaza's reconstruction is set to be signed today. The problem with the agreement is that it appears there is no Palestinian involvement in the deal.

On the other hand, as The Guardian noted last night:

The former UK prime minister Tony Blair appears to have won the endorsement of the Palestinian Authority to be involved in the reconstruction of Gaza, after an exploratory meeting in Jordan.

There is a need for candour about what is happening. What is going to happen today is colonisation in action, in 2025.

What else can I say, except that I am appalled by this? What is happening is about as far from what I suggested on Saturday for the need for post-conflict reconstruction in Gaza as it is possible to get.

What I know is that this will not end well. There is no way it can if this is the direction of travel. Colonisation has never solved anything. It has only fuelled tensions. It can, as a result, do nothing for the people of Gaza, the West Bank or even Israel. Another disaster is in the making today. There is nothing to celebrate about that.
