Starmer: the great letdown

Posted on

Keir Starmer promised transformation—and delivered disappointment. I  argue that Starmer is not just failing, but failing in a way that makes him worse than his Tory predecessors.

This is the transcript:

I made a comment in a video recently in which I suggested that Keir Starmer is the worst Prime Minister that we've had for a long time, and certainly worse than all the Tory Prime Ministers who had preceded him over the previous fourteen years.

And this created a lot of reaction. People said, "What? He's worse than Boris Johnson? He's worse than Liz Truss? How can you say that?"

And my answer is very simple, and I'm going to stick to my guns on this one.

Keir Starmer came into office saying he was going to deliver good things for the people of this country.

He came in as a Labour prime minister, promising he would improve the lives of the vulnerable, and he hasn't.

Boris Johnson and Liz Truss never promised the earth to anyone. They basically said they were going to make the rich richer, or they were going to deliver Brexit, and they didn't care about the consequences. We knew they were going to be rubbish.

But  Kier Starmer said he was going to be great, and he isn't. And that's why I think he's a worse prime minister than those two, and the other Tories as well, because he promised the Earth by saying he would deliver and it's very clear he had no idea how to do so, he had no intention of doing so, and now that he's in office, he's going to do nothing about finding out how to do so.

He really is worse, as a consequence, than even Boris Johnson and Liz Truss, because they knew they were rubbish; we knew they were rubbish, and we weren't surprised that they were rubbish.

But Keir Starmer has let everyone down badly.
