On Friday, the Daily Fail Mail featured this profoundly enlightened headline:
As they noted:
Three liberal professors at Yale University said they're jumping ship from the United States because the country is headed toward fascism under Donald Trump and even compared it to being on the Titanic.
Marci Shore, Timothy Snyder and Jason Stanley are all professors at the Ivy League institution, with Stanley already having told MSNBC in April that he's running away from America.
Now, the other two are bolting as well, with the trio set to take up new jobs at the University of Toronto.
Tim Snyder needs no introduction or explanation to readers here.
Jason Stanley is the author of one of the best books on fascism I have read.
Marci Shore, a history professor at Yale, is the author of “The Ukrainian Night,” about the Ukrainian revolution.
But, apparently, according to The Mail, the paper that supported Hitler until the moment when it became no longer possible for it to do so, fleeing fascism is 'woke', when all term means is that those accused of it are people who care.
As the New York Times reports:
Professor Shore, who has spent two decades writing about the history of authoritarianism in Central and Eastern Europe, is leaving because of what she sees as the sharp regression of American democracy. “We're like people on the Titanic saying our ship can't sink,” she said. “And what you know as a historian is that there is no such thing as a ship that can't sink.”
I completely understand.
And as the Mail itself is forced to report:
Threatening to leave America has been a hobby horse of the elites and wealthy since Trump's first term.
Many have been flocking to exclusive pockets of Britain in record numbers in a desperate bid to escape life under Trump.
The so-called 'Donald Dash' has been backed up by Home Office figures this week which revealed that applications for UK citizenship soared in the last quarter of 2024, rising 40 per cent year on year.
In fact more than 6,100 US citizens applied last year, the most since records began two decades ago and 26 per cent more than in 2023.
No doubt they are all woke as well, as well as being exactly the sort of migrants The Mail does not want here - along with all the rest.
Our world is going mad. Long may Marci Shore, Timothy Snyder and Jason Stanley point that out.

Well, their buying power might well contribute to house price inflation where ever they land – its the Cotswolds isn’t it these days?
They also don’t seem to understand what is going on here – the more subtle road to fascism we are already on ourselves, just more polite and insidious that’s all.
Marci Shore “The lesson of 1933 is that you get out sooner rather than later”.
She’s married to Timothy Snyder and they have children. Who wouldn’t leave a ‘hell’ with their family if they had the opportunity to do so.
She is right re 1933
Marci Shore is married to Tim Snyder.
He did a series of lectures on Ukraine and she did one of them, giving her experience of the Maidan protests.
I, as a Yank, will never understand the power and credibility The Daily Fail has.
The Daily Fail is a tabloid on the same order as Yanks favorites The National Inquirer and The New Daily News.
A recent example, two headline articles at The Fail Online is one on immigration and one on Katie Price’s 27th breast augmentation plus 12th rhinoplasty with pictures! Then the third following article is a detail listing of the price of each individual piece of kit worn my Meghan Markle at her latest outing.
I will admit that from time-to-time I read the “sidebar of shame” for schitts & giggles entertainment but I do not give any story in The Daily Fail any credibility. Look at an article online, the online writers cannot even write and the commentariat is 70% bots.
Again, because I am at a lost Yank, I must ask: Why does The Daily Fail have any credibility?
It confirms people’s prejudices.
I don’t think its the credibility of the Daily Fail that is the problem, but the fact that it still has a circulation and we should all be aware that the written word is more likely to stick in the brain than any other form of “propaganda”, that its the tiresomeness of it harping on day after day with the same story………………Its the fault of ………………………..somebody else for a year or twenty ………………the sh+t eventually sticks by repetition.
