It was a very hot day in East Anglia. So, photography was muted.

And Ely in the distance. Spot the water buffalo doing what a water buffalo likes to do on a warm day:

Until I buy a much better lens that’s……
It’s strange that when you rock up at a cafe it’s busy, it’s business wanting your custom so positions itself nearish to the car park, but when you walk about 1km there seems to be almost no-one there apart from you. Is this a general issue with peoples willingness to put a little effort in to appreciate nature, or does it only happen when you’re around?
It’s a well known fact
We laughed about it yesterday. At the Kingfisher reserve that we rear as our regular birding patch there is a destination about 500m from the car park and (brilliant) cafe. That stretch is usually busy. The rest – you can usually be well alone with birdsong.
I’ve just bought a 18 – 250 lens and already had a 1.4X tele adaptor. The former was from a pawn shop for £110 and the latter from London Camera Exchange for, I think £30. So it doesn’t need to be that expensive. They work pretty well and the shots can be blown up a lot without losing definition. Sadly, I am these days unable to walk more than three or four miles but that’s plenty enough to get away from most of the people in the car parks.
What mount?
And good pictures are all around us, it seems to me
I did a photoshoot in a local cafe yesterday (very non-chain, well worth the extra 20p on a coffee)
The subject was my wife though, and I do not have her permission to share
But, I may go back just for the details in the location.
Sony A mount. I always used to buy Minolta until it was taken over by Sony and I’ve still got a bunch of Minolta lenses which fit – albeit analogue, not digital. I was very lucky to find that lens, especially at that price (negotiated).
Thanks
And the photo you have sent me is excellent, I agree
