I just posted this video on TikTok and YouTube:
The Bank of England has never said it wanted to create a recession, a cost-of-living crisis and unemployment in the UK, but that is exactly what it is doing, but that is exactly what it is doing. Why is the government letting this happen?
I am aware that the embedding of this video has proved problematic. It can be found on YouTube here.
Thanks for reading this post.

You fail to mention you are a house owner and rising housing values are free of CGT ( and you don’t propose any change in your taxing wealth report). Little wonder you want lower interest rates as your property increases in value free of tax. To hell with those not on the property ladder. You aim to make housing less affordable for more people. Thanks for that..
You clearly have not read the Taxing Wealth Report 2024 because I do, quite emphatically, suggest that this issue be addressed with a CGT charge.
You can’t even troll well.
I applaud you for taking on giants so vigorously, and for doing so very effectively.
Your videos are brilliant, but I fear the ‘harm’ comments may be counter-productive.
Many will have failed to fully understand the complexities.
Most will want to be loyal, to keep on the right side of ‘top people’. What’s more, if one has doubts, it’s hard to challenge ‘authority’. It’s easier to believe that all is for the general good – and a pity if some will suffer.
I like to think that enough people will be convinced – very soon.
Logic, justice and integrity must prevail. Your work is magnificent.
This video is a blank rectangle for me ? All the others so far have been OK.
I would love to be able to explain that, but several thousand people have watched it so I am not sure that I can. Really sorry.
Me too since it was posted. Used to happen with some of the earlier videos, too. I assumed it was a glitch which had been fixed ages ago. My guess is that it’s a browser/add-on specific interaction. It’s annoying, but we can look for it on y/t; as irritating as that is.
Karl
I can’t explain this. The original post looks fine and there is no odd embedded text to disrupt matters.
I have now added a link to overcome this. Apologies.
Thanks Richard for the link – I have now been able to see the video on You Tube – another excellent effort.
Just for the record, I use Firefox on a Mac (OS Big Sur). I also tried on Safari, but still the same blank white rectangle.
It’s odd because all the previous embedded videos worked fine.
I m baffled….
They haven’t got it in for ALL of us. In fact one particular group are probably doing alright.
The video is also a blank white rectangle for me too. Firefox and Chrome. Have disabled Ghostery.
I can see the video on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pt-ow3mLgro
And also on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@richardjmurphy/video/7358439314302242081?lang=en

Thanks
I will revisit this
And you are right re links in the right hand column
I am no expert but the one reason I can come up with to explain this social cruelty is that the property/building boom of the past half century is ending. The inevitable rectification of profiteering off an unproductive ‘terminal crop’ was always going to be messy. Could the higher interest rates be to do with trying to deflate the property market rather than allowing it to crash as in China ? Also, have the big banks used the QE bonanza since 2008 to become as liquid and properly leveraged as they need to be to face serious political instabilities such as major conflict and ecocide ? Or did they just indulge themselves by exchange flipping and profiteering ? If the latter, they need to replenish their coffers which means they will bleed all of us.
Again, no expert, but from what I have experienced and understand a catastrophic property crash, especially in London, is a matter of when not if.
You may be right
We genuinely do not know
