For those not aware of it, there is an opportunity to subscribe to a daily update email from this blog. Just fill in the form on the right-hand side of this post (unless you are on a phone or tablet, when it may well be below it).
I suddenly realised today (when there will be at least six posts) that only three are being included in the mailing. As a result, we have now changed that. Up to ten of the most recent posts can now be included in the mail, so nothing should be missed. I have never done that many in a day, as far as I recall.
That said, there is a further issue where a change to this mailing might be appropriate. Right now, it goes out at midnight. Some readers have asked if it could go out earlier. That seems quite a good idea to me, given I very rarely post anything in the evening. I am a lark, not an owl. So, a 7 pm mailing might be an alternative, and it will still be there for those who want to read it the following morning. To seek opinions on this, might those with an interest in the issue answer this poll?
What time should the Funding the Future daily email go out?
- 7 pm on the day of publication of posts (77%, 88 Votes)
- Midnight at the end of the day of publication of posts (21%, 24 Votes)
- Some other time (please provide a comment on the blog with suggestions) (3%, 3 Votes)
Total Voters: 115
Thank you.

When are you generally done blogging for the day? I stress generally there… then would be the appropriate time to send them out I’d say. Also, now might be a good time to remind people you offer an RSS feed and what that means.
I almost invariably finish by 5
Given I usually start work by 6.30 I have had enough then
RSS point noted. Do people still use them?
I use one for Bill Mitchell because he only seems to blog intermittently, one for the Corbett Report (hugely informative) and also for Chris Grey the celebrated Brexit commentator. I have your blog pinned handy in my browser which makes sense as you blog most days. So it’s horses for courses really.
I blog every day…
I didn’t vote because I have no preference. I suggest you do whatever you find most convenient.
Thanks
“I didn’t vote because I have no preference. I suggest you do whatever you find most convenient.”
Same here! I did not vote because, like Bernard Hurley, I have no preference.
Being in the USA, it really does not matter with me when Richard hits the “send” button as long Richard continues to to hit the “send” button.
It’s on autopilot…..
Until today I had been subscribing for at least 5 years but was unaware that you sometimes (often?) post more than 3 times per day. This is the first day I have 6 separate tabs open in my browser for your posts.
Your email reaches me at about 6:00 pm EST (America/New_York), but that will shift back to 7:00 pm when we go on Daylight Savings Time in 10 days. Whichever — it means that many people, including yourself, have commented on a given post before I’m even aware of its existence. It also means that when you’re cross-posted to Naked Capitalism, I read one of your posts over there at 7:00 am local time that I won’t see on taxresearch.org.uk until 11 hours later!
So, from my own U.S.-centric perspective, it wouldn’t hurt for your email notification to go out at 7 pm your time.
Thanks
