Some personal news.
I learned this morning that I have been reappointed as Professor of Accounting Practice at Sheffield University Management School until August 2026.
I am grateful to all my colleagues involved in making this decision.
As before, the appointment is part-time.

Unreserved congratulations.
Please enjoy the coffee.
I might go and do some reading this afternoon, and have a coffee 🙂
Hey Richard – how’s about this to have a coffee or two over – I’ve managed to get a reprint of Col. HCB Rogers book ‘Chapelon: Genius of French Steam’ by Goodall/Crecy to read – it first came out in 1972 and had been on my hit list for some time – fascinating stuff and well worth a look if you’ve not already read it. Andre Chapelon had a big impact even on British loco design and it seemed that he took some real humdrum French designs and improved them substantially -it’s got pictures too.
Anyhow, the weekend beckons………………….
Massive influence – especially on Gresley
But these days my chosen reading is 9n much smaller lines. I am currently reading about the Forest of Dean lines – a fascinating history
Good news Richard! And enjoy the history of Forest of Dean railways – I was fortunate to explore several FoD iron mines in the late ‘60’s and also the Oxenhall tunnel on the Hereford & Gloucester canal in a home- made boat with a couple of mates….. halcyon days when a bright future was before us…..
🙂
Congrats Richard – good news.
Thanks
