The FT reported this morning that:
Reports and images from New York look and sound grim. But, this is in the country of climate change denial.
How long is it before US politics and people come to terms with the fact that unless we change our lifestyles there is no life worth having that is left?

From the BBC a few says ago….
‘Climate change: How is my country doing on tackling it?’
My first thought was that the UK seems to be doing pretty good.
my second (after looking at the other countries) was ‘whats the point’?
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-65754296
The point is that if no oine does anyhting we get MADness – mututally assured destruction
yeah, I get what the point is.
My point is that no-one else seems to care – or if they do, they’re only pretending to care for political or financial gain.
Ach well. It’ll outlast me.
It’s denial all the way down the line.
It’s only going to get worse in the mid term and I’ll bet you the Alt-Everything crowd will be coming up with all sorts of ‘alternative facts’ to help people stay addicted to their cars.
Because ‘addiction’ it is.
This isn’t automobile air pollution, it’s smog from the out of control fires in bordering Canada. It filters the light so only some frequencies get through. It’s very similar in effect to some scenes from Blade Runner 2049, ironically, which purported to portray a dystopian future. Meanwhile in the here and now we find ourselves already in an increasingly dystopian present, to our concern. No need to go to the movies anymore, the future’s arrived already.

The direct point taken about the wildfires – but which are caused by global warming courtesy of vehicle emissions as part of the package though isn’t it?
All this dryness we’ve seen in California, traditionally colder parts of the North America, Alaska, Iceland, shrinking snow lines and glaciers the world over and even in Australia – all have a causal basis related to vehicle emissions, where car ownership and usage has grown exponentially around the world for years.
