One of the comments made over the last few days is that if I want to increase the reach of this blog it needs a new name.
Way back in 2006, when the story began, most articles were on tax. These days, most are not.
So, a poll follows.
But what should a new name be? I tried this:
That is a lot more accurate now. But is there something better?
And, for those concerned, the web address would not change. That is far too embedded for anything to happen to it.
Should the blog be renamed?

What about ‘Understanding the Political Economy’ ? I’ve learnt so much from this blog, and the more we all learn, the more we’ll able to expose the government’s tricks, sleights of policies, and partisanship.

The strength of the blog it that it’s your voice. Not an organisation or campaign lobby. However it’s also a facilitated forum and conversation leader.
Tax Research UK implies a degree of authority but no longer reflects the breadth of content. The tax focus may return? Good to see you recognise the ‘UK’ is part of the identity.
You have recently reflected upon your own future direction the evolution of this blog and ability to engage wider and younger audience.
That will be asking questions regards how you align your work and profile/identity across the many platforms on which you are active.
Within main stream media presenters often introduced as ‘The Tax Expert’ (a media niche you have rather made own). Your Radio 2 listener relates tax, they all pay it! ‘Tax’ evokes emotions and memories and the it if the Budget everyone understands. ‘The Tax Expert’ could work as a new title…if not necessarily the relationship you wish with the blog.
‘Economic Justice UK’ might better align the blog title to its values, mission and your twitter profile.
‘Courageous State’ works on more levels than ‘The Courageous State’. Courageous is a stong ‘sticky’ word.
‘Political Economy UK’ works better than ‘New Political Economy’ or ‘Progressive Political Economy’ but suggests something more academic. A barrier to many.

What about Finance for the Future?
Finance for the Future might be taken to mean personal finance. And doesnt MMT show that government spending isn’t “financed” !
I suggest also to avoid Political Economy – sounds too academic.
MMT is all about finance – just different forms of finance
How about “Murphy’s Law” (or Murphy’s Laws)?
I was first drawn to this blog after buying your book, “The Joy of Tax”, which I saw recommended (but now don’t recall by whom). As well as the recommendation itself, there was something attractive about the use of the phrase “The Joy of ..” for a topic that proposed very little in the way of joy (at least for the average reader. (A format also used by Scott Adams in his “The Joy of Work”).
I don’t think you need a title that appeals to academics, but one that might persuade a reasonably curious browser to think “I wonder what that’s about?” – and click on a link.

If you are trying to reach a younger audience I would suggest.
Reality Economics or
Real Political Economics.
Anything too stuffy or superior will simply turn your target audience quickly off.
I agree with others that you need to become much more mainstream and project this most complex subject in as simplistic a way as possible.

I like Reality Economics. It alludes to Real World Economics , which is heterdox and post-Keysian , no? It negates the Magical thinking slur. And young people like to “get real” !

You explain economics in its political context. I have learned a lot of useful detail from what you write.
Leave the UK to a subtitle that could also mention morality.

Magic Money
On the basis it would be supplemented by a subtitle. Redolent of ‘magic money tree’ (your book) which has a positive ring and suggests ‘joy’ in the subject (mentioned by another contributor).

Would Political Economics attract the younger cohort or put them off? It sounds like something they would have to sign up for at college, and most of them won’t.
I like the word tax in the title as everyone understands that they should pay tax, even those who avoid or evade it.
Richard Murphy’s Morning Takeaway.
Its your voice that’s important. The title alludes to thought for the day, bite sized morsels of information, MMT . It also implies regularity and the need to digest. Political economy is too weighted with what is taught and what is understood.
