Full marks to The National, the paper for whom I am a columnist in Scotland, which as this front cover this morning:

Indeed. I’m often feeling we’re in two Scotlands. One, the Victorian construct – tartan and shortbread etc. so much needs deleting – we are not a theme park thanks.
The other, striving to be a forward thinking small country aligning to Northern European friends within constraints we endure from London.
Could we cut the Brigadoon any time soon please?
Agreed!
A contrast;
“Nearly 6,000 had what is officially known as a “public health funeral”, a basic ceremony funded by councils for those who die in poverty or with no next of kin.” Daily Mirror 10 Oct. 2021
“Among the youngest of those who ended this way last year was “Baby Ruja”, who died on the same day she was born in Doncaster, South Yorks, and was cremated four months later.
The oldest included 101-year-old Frances Oldridge in Southampton and 103-year-old Maxima Andreo in Barnet, North London.”
I think The National has the truth of it.
Good God that’s brave!
The grief enforcers will hate this.
And necessary.
The so called freedom of this union does not often face stress tests like this.
And seems to fail every time.
Does the person in fancy dress have a license for that goat? & have the police given permission for what looks like a demonstration, one supposes, in favour of fancy dress, judging by those taking part. Or maybe the panto season has started early? Who knonws.
“full mark”” to republicans maybe but not to the majority of the population
So?
Give it a few months and most royalists will hate Charles as much as they do some other royals
“Give it a few months and most royalists will hate Charles as much as they do some other royals”
Is that why you are telling blatant lies on twitter?? And it was pointed out by many. Your vindictive nature does you no favours.
I did nit tell lies on Twitter
Charles could have the law on his counsellors changed, with ease
So I told the truth
This nonstop barrage of Royal grief and pageantry is becoming a sad joke for the majority now. Talk about overkill …
I almost feel sorry for Chas and Queenie. Surely they must sense the majority don’t want them and all this sideshow.
