Two headlines from an FT newsletter this morning:
First, the markets have reacted to Truss's plan to trash the economy as they did to Thatcher's success in doing so.
Second, the Truss plan to get out of the mess she plans on creating is the same as Thatcher's, by delivering a financial services storm. That ended so well last time, as anyone might recall.
What did Einstein say about insanity? He defined it as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results when it failed on each previous occasion. It looks like that is what we are facing.

They have no new ideas and as you say, keep delivering more of the same which led us into this mess.
Thatcher did some good things, such as ending the subsidies for coal, protecting the ozone layer and the Antarctica agreement.
People can argue she was net harmful and Michael Foot would have been better, but she was not pure evil.
Anyways she’s dead now, long time.
I leave others to tear this to shreds
“Thatcher did some good things”.
Hmm, lets try this for size.
Tory-vulture slogan for 1979 election: “Labour’s not working” (1 million unemployed)
1981 +/- 2 years into Thatcher’s rule: 3 million unemployed.
Tories buy their hypocrisy wholesale.
Water, rail, elec, gas: remind me how things are going in these areas?
Tories, making things shittier (literally in the case of water) for most people always.
They are & always have been evil – in the biblical sense.
As Iain Banks noted – there are some OK tories – but they are like a piece of sweetcorn in a turd.
BBC also reporting that they expect Truss to reverse the ban on Fracking introduced in 2019.

We need a radical new vision now, this is insane.
Agreed
A fracking site in Lancashire caused a lot of local protests and at least one earthquate. I wonder how Ben Wallace is going to justify its reopening to his constituents?
Thatcher didn’t print billions to help consumers pay their bills… that’s what Truss is planning and the FX markets are reacting to the branding of the currency.
Don’t you agree that capping energy bills is a good thing?
Read the post just offered
She really is not letting this crisis go to waste that is for sure.
I’m hearing that fracking is on the cards again.
But now we know how this is going to work. Anyone who benefits from this insanity is going to be financially supporting the Tories and that is really bad news.
I can also see any of the committees set up to look at BREXIT and Covid issues being put out to pasture – her non-aggression with Johnson methinks.
One good thing that Thatcher did was to wake me up from my slumber of indifference. Beyond that I disliked everything she did.
