Yup. The tories vastly prefer that the burden of tax comes thru ‘indirect taxation’, falling more heavily on Joe and Jane Public. That’s why they have not and will not address the excessive tax they’re pulling in from fuel and power. It’s also why they will not address the billing ‘structure’ of the major utilities – they prefer flat taxes and these are structured to be just that.
Sooner or later it might be recognised that this degenerate government despises the poor. They don’t just neglect them. It’s no use pointing out to them that the poor are suffering as if that will stir some fundamental sense of decency. There is no such sense of decency. How much more evidence of that does there have be before people realise that? Johnson’s deviant character was well understood before he became PM. It was the reason he was manipulated into the job. There was much dirty work to do, and with chosen, similarly morality-depleted, second rate ministers around him, that dirty work is being done at a pace. We shouldn’t expect Wakefield and Tiverton to alter that.
