Apologies to email subscribers

I must apologise to email subscribers to this blog who have not had messages from me for about a week.

I could not figure out what was happening but have now had it pointed out to me that the failure was due to success. The number of subscribers to the email list had exceeded the number permitted under the subscription deal I had, and so emails had stopped being sent.

I have now paid for a bigger list capacity. Emails should start again as a result.

For those not subscribing, it's easy. The box is on the right-hand side of this post.

Thanks to all those who do subscribe: the number has grown rapidly in recent months and I had not anticipated that when setting up the subscription.

    Hi Richard you recently asked ‘Blog or Tweet’… (to which my answer is both)

    Chiming in with a thought here.

    I do think the current blog format is good, but the discussions that follow are also fruitful, and it would be nice to be able to see recent activity chronologically without having to subscribe for notifications.

    A couple of suggestions might be a forum (don’t have a clear vision of how this would work in conjunction with the blog atm, but you have enough traffic to make a forum worthwhile)… or per your Twitter activity shown on the right.. have a ‘recent comments’ section.

    As you know, Richard, I wrote to you about this a few days ago and, following your very reasonable advice, I re-registered – twice! When normal service resumes, I hope I don’t end up with multiple emails. But I’m delighted that your blog is getting such good reach. My order of 10 copies of the “Money for Nothing and my Tweets for Free” arrived yesterday and I look forward to distributing them to unsuspecting, but worthy, recipients.

    By the way, I’ve found that simply logging on to the blog each day is no particular hardship and let’s me see posts as soon as they are posted.
