This years Peston Lecture takes place this afternoon.  My friend, occasional sparring partner and Mile End Road economist, Prof David Blanchflower will be talking about  ‘The Wellbeing of the Man or Woman on the Mile End Omnibus'.

    What exactly are “Mile end economists” I see no formal reference to it?

    I enjoyed the talk. There was too much data to take in in the time available, but Danny Blanchflower was really good at highlighting what mattered about it. I suppose that’s a sign of a good teacher.

    In the 80’s I would regularly catch the last 25 bus from central London to Ilford so I would have been the man on the Mile End Omnibus.

      I thought Danny did it will and wisely skipped the econometrics

      I have been down the Mile End Road more times than I care to remember…..it was the way home for a long time
