I offer this tweet with every caveat under the sun, starting with the fact that I do not know that the data is sourced correctly:

But if that map is credible - and I can see intuitive reasons to think why it is, then tourism is the last thing the UK needs right now, for the sake of those in many of the tourist areas, as well as to protect those going to them.
Unless you want a holiday in Cleethorpes the coats is not looking good right now.

Indeed. Also the average age in places like Bournemouth and Christchurch is weighted towards the more fragile amongst us.
Well….they say ‘It’s an ill wind that blows nobody any good’; perhaps a global pandemic will prove to be the salvation of Cleethorpes. 🙂
I haven’t been for a while
It may have been the last time I visited Blundell Park
And that goes back a long way….
Pleased to hear you’ve been to Blundell Park. Hope you had some decent fish and chips before or after the match. The Lincs coast is great for sun sea and sand and has got away with relatively low rates of infection so far and we’d like to keep it that way.
The data you present on regional R figures make it clear that local lockdowns need to start now and be seriously enforced. No one in or out. Blackpool clearly needs this approach desperately.
R in Blackpool is reported to be well over 1
Another lovely sunny day here in Cleethorpes. As I’ve said in the past, it sometimes proves helpful to live at the end of the line!
I’ve been pretty relaxed about the risk of infection around here for a month or so now when the figures showed so few cases in the area. I’ve managed to avoid the urge to drive half way across the country for any reason.
The lack of infection here won’t help us get back to normal any easier as you never know when a case might be ‘imported’. Regional controls depending on the level of infection in an area make a great deal of sense so it’s pretty obvious we’ll never see them in effect.
I agree
And I’m also aware you’re the end of the line – and that your station was optimally placed for tourism as I recall….
The Great Central Railway made Cleethorpes….
