I hear that a certain George Osbourne is still involved in the ‘Northern Powerhouse’ development. A thought a bad odour was lingering somewhere and now we know what is causing it.
My worry is that this ‘powerhouse’ will be based on competition over local levels of taxation and other factors (levels of inward Government investment) that can be arbitraged down by business and Government thus leaving the underlying factors of decline in place.
