Is there a risk that you’re conflating “understand” with “agree with” here?
Understand relates to purpose
They’re not meant to carry the literal meaning some deem to be ascribing to them – they are caricature but the mindset of many neoliberals appears unable to grasp nuance and delights in pedantry
Which is my point
It seems to me there are some neoliberals who neither understand nor do not understand your Venn diagrams. Are thet the unknown unknowns?
Richard, now I’m really confused. How can somebody both understand your Venn diagrams and not understand them at the same time?
Are you saying neoliberals do not exist?
Mitch, Richard doesn’t need me or anyone else to defend him but, even if you’re not testing his patience, you’re sure as hell testing mine. If you are in any way mentally unwell or compromised, I wish you no harm and hope your situation improves. If not, please shut the …. up.
Nick. I’m sorry to hear that you’re so angry with me. I wasn’t going to comment any more but I feel I ought to apologise for upsetting you.
I am afraid that this and yesterday’s diagrams do not make sense to me. As Richard says, you need to understand his purpose to know what he means. I clearly don’t know his purpose. But he also said that they’re not Venn diagrams.
I guess I will have to leave it as a bit of a mystery. Maybe a change of name and/or using triangles instead of circles might help people like me more intuitively distinguish them from Venn diagrams.
You just beat me to that one, Nick. Wind-up merchant or what!
As neither a neo-liberal nor one who delights in pedantry (some may disagree regarding the latter), perhaps if A and B remain separate but C is positioned overlapping A and B, you’d get understanders and their opposites mutually exclusive, a group of neo-liberals in each camp, and the remaining group of neo-liberals outside all rational discourse, unable to tell their arses from their elbows.
Which sounds a bit like the real world.
