A fascinating article in Isle of Man Today recently showed the quality of regulation in the Isel of Man in its true light:
TELECOMS giant Cable & Wireless is calling for urgent reform of the island's competition law and communications regulation.
Its call came after it commissioned research it says shows we have one of the worst regulatory regimes out of 37 countries in which it operates worldwide.
OK, this was competition and telecoms regulation. But it blows a great big hole in the Isle of Man's claim to be an exemplar for good regulation. Although, as we all know, that's always been tosh: good and no regulation are not the same thing, and nor is good regulation administered with a blind eye.

I wasn’t aware that the Isle of Man claimed to have good competition and telecom regulation, if they have then clearly they are failing. Mind you, have competition in the telecoms industry of a small island must be quite difficult.
Hmm. I take it you noticed that this research was commissioned by Cable & Wireless? As in the same Cable & Wireless that believes it could benefit financially from a change in the Isle of Man’s regulatory regime for telecoms? That’s bound to be an objective survey, then.
