Barnsley said it all: the Lib Dems come sixth after a Labour landslide with UKIP beating the Tories into thrid place.
People hav had enough, already. Those who can't face Labour (and some never will) are voting for the right wing extreme, but almost no one can face voting for the coalition partners.
Remember what Mervyn King said - that whoever was in power now will be out of office for a generation? It looks like it.

Professor Charles Tule has spent his career studying how the collegiate party system impacts on the ability of the government to make decisions.
Tule’s Law states that:
“The total common sense of a group of politicians is equal to slightly less than half the sum of the common sense of each individual.”
Tule’s law provides an explanation as to why a group of seemingly intelligent people can get together in parliament and come to conclusions that the rest of the population can see as being unwise and stupid in the extreme.

Excellent! I hadn’t come across that one, but it made me smile on an otherwise dull day.
I hope this gives the Lib Dems some sort of gumption to oppose some of the more extreme ‘coalition’ destructive guff.
But surely the lack of ‘gumption’ was always their opponents’ punch bag?
Every time there is a u turn, every time there is disparity in opinion between the Cons and the ‘Dems, the more ridiculous any policy, hastily proffered, will prove an excercise in clueless leadership.
Christ above, we need some control right now. Not from the right, we’ve had that from the right wing (from centre to extremist), but a cohesive social vision.
As for big society. That’s what we’re supposed to be living in Guernsey. All these great people begging for money to support the infirm, the elderly and failing the mentally ill. Take it from me. Guernsey does the very best it can, but it is truly at the whim of the take home surplus earner. Any blip and the vulnerable rot first.
The campaign to tax the tax dodging corps is essntial if we are to keep all of our ‘western’ standards to the degree we have become to expect for granted.
No intelligent person can possibly support the failure of the past.
@Arnald
Not a pleasant scenario.
And Jersey and the Isle of Man must surely be subject to the same predicament.
Our sympathy — if that is the appropriate word.
Premier Shreholders Group – I would really appreciate being referenced when being directly quoted like you have.
