The UK VAT increase has a knock on effect - the saving from shipping from the Channel Islands increases.
Channel TV has featured the issue in a report here. Start watching hal;f way through. The indefatigable Richard Allen is in action in the report and the reporter suggest this is the year the UK may take action to stop the abuse.
We can hope so.

Here on the Isle of Man it seems everyone is rubbing their hands in glee.
More VAT = more money into the Government coffers.

If in doubt – celebrate.

@AlbieR
How weird to hear someone from the Isle of Man celebrating more tax revenue
But also how sad that you show such indifference to the poorest in your own community who will bear this burden when the richest in your island pay so little
Just noted the news on HMV’S position, 60-odd stores to close…I wonder how much of this can be laid at the door of Amazon’s et al C.I. “fulfilment” operations……?
Bizarrely Islanders will see an increase in costs of goods procured from the UK as many Guernsey based retailers include UK VAT in their pricing (is actually zero rated from the UK), they say, to cover shipping costs.
