This award goes to Alex (who claims to be author of the Alex cartoon strips, but I very much doubt he is as I know those who do).
He wrote a comment on this blog on the Google tax story at 9.22pm on Christmas evening.
Normally I’d have deleted it as it was so obviously and absurdly wrong. But it was so sad I let it on.
Thanks for reading this post.

Others have tried to make this point but did so rudely and without an argument and so got deleted
I have three responses. First I cannot be rude to a pseudonym. Alex is not a real person. He chooses to pretend to be other than he is. It is not my duty to worry about the person he might be.
Second he certainly does not give the impression you suggest. He implies he is City familiar and highly competent. He gives no quarter. I feel no need to do so.
Third, and most important for this was what I alluded to, the comment was sad because I think it represented the complete stranglehold economic rationality has over his life – reducing it to a shallow sadness that meant defending tax abuse from behind a veil of secrecy was more important than the reality and wonder of human life itself – as represented in Christmas day.
If you think Scrooge was sad so was Alex’s comment
