The FT has reported German officials as saying:
The really interesting aspect [of the debate on tax havens in Europe] is the political and media discussion, and not just in Germany. You can bet no one is opening new accounts in Liechtenstein right now. It is this kind of relentless pressure and bad publicity that will make these countries change their ways.
And as Angela Merkel's team are reported as saying
Our demands are quite simple. Ultimately, we want states such as Liechtenstein to provide us with information on any German resident holding assets on their territories.
It's an entirely reasonable request.
It will happen.
