AccountingWEB is asking who really deserved to be in the New Year's Honours list. I've commented as follows:
If Mike Rake deserves a knighthood, then Prem Sikka deserves a peerage. No one has done more to draw attention to the need for an ethically based profession, and the continuing absence of that quality.
Mind you, I expect he'd refuse it. Prem does this stuff because it's the right thing to do, not for reward.
I'd add, just in case you're not aware of it, that the AABA website, run by Prem, is the best resource in the world for those interested in offshore, auditing issues and accounting comment in general. And I'm not exaggerating. Many thousands of users a day find answers to their questions on that site.

Richard I have no suggestions on possible knights etc. However, I think it should be clearly understood by your readers that the facts that
¬? (now Sir) Mike Rake is a partner in KPMG and
¬? Sir Michael Peat is an ex KPMG partner and
¬? the P in KPMG comes from Peat and
¬? Sir Michael Peat is Principal Private Secretary to The Prince of Wales
are without any doubt all entirely unconnected, as honours are bestowed only on people recommended on their merit by the Government (or who enable the political party forming the Government to trouser a wad of cash).
If money buys knighhoods!!!
What ethically and morally minded person would accept one?
