I think this might be the best quote I will find in today's newspapers. It comes from an Observer article on the repeated flooding of a school in Bassetlaw, Nottinghamshire:
One 10-year-old reflected on why her school kept getting submerged. “I know Brexit is quite important,” she said, “but I really think the government needs to do more about climate change.”
She is absolutely right. We are having an election where the party likely to win most seats has got its priorities completely wrong.

It’s not just about climate change. It’s about investing in infrastructure. When there were floods a couple of years ago on the Somerset levels it was found that the reason was that the River Parrett had not been dredged for years due to government cuts in funding the local authorities. It makes little difference whether we are in or out of the EU as long as the politicians of all colours stick to the erroneous notion that the government has to tax the rich and borrow from the Chinese etc to pay for it all. Even in the EU the UK government has that capacity as a currency-issuer and has an opt out from Art 123 of the TFEU in the form of Protocol 15 (10). Whether the nation has the resources, including idle labour, is the question, not whether it can afford it. A ten year old can’t understand that because it isn’t taught in schools.

Yes indeed. Despite the ‘Education, Education, Education’ mantra, most of what is taught in schools is still irrelevant, sterile pap effectively keeping its recipients unthinking and ignorant of the knowledge needed to protect the planet and its inhabitants from the self-seeking behaviour of powerful minorities.
Indeed, trouble is ten year-olds don’t get to vote.
