In my view its all smoke and mirrors with Owen and Miss Hodge. Multinationals are at long last talked about. However when the Duke Of Westminster died there was (unless I am mistaken ) silence from the politicians (or Owen Jones) that his estate will largely not have paid any IHT (while labour/Owen Jones types still belly ache about the derisory cut in the scheme of things). If Hodge talked about that while supporting last years cut, That would be a start. However if pressed she probably would say we in labour will but those millionaires (that phraise itself is hopelessly out of date since it dates from the 1940’s!!!) also have to pay but in the end 99% sure it would be just the modestly wealthy again to pay not the super rich Duke Of Westminster.

If it is widely ‘acknowledged’ it sure missed me. As far as I can see it goes on with Labour increasing the exempted amount little and the tories increasing it a little more while leaving the rate unchanged (which is the real reason it is unpopular) while labour cries murder saying said ‘cut’ its outrageous. While farmland, trusts etc the preserve of the very rich are just ignored. It does need to be replaced (with what a simlar tax that again is avoided by the super rich?) and in effect is a higher tax version? I’m no expert unlike you, but from what I can tell regarding IHT has broardly been the same for decades if not certainly many years only difference it is gradually effecting more and more people, in spite of the Corbyn’s protests to the contrary.
