Four years ago I was excited by Obama being elected.
This morning it's more like releif that Romney was not.
And releif that policies like Obamacare survive.
But it's not excitement. When Obama tackles tax in the USA, and seeks to beat inequality with it, and seeks to stop US multinational tax abuse as well, then I'll be excited.
But right now, I'll just have another cup of tea and wait to see what develops.

I’m old enough not to have been excited by Obama’s first victory. A US President is a US President, which usually means bad news for the rest of the world.
I kind of agree. I don’t think most Americans have the faintest idea how deep the pooh is that they are stood in. Now that the distraction of the election is over, the next few months will be very telling.
They are aware.
Their, and our, problem is that when they pull their feet out of one pile they tread into another.
Until you/they realise that there is nothing remaining to tread on that does not have a layer of poo over it.
Banking has crapped-over everything !
To be honest my excitement is nothing to do with economics. Romney was going to declare war on Iran. Had he done so, do you think Cameron/Clegg/Milliband would do the right thing & say “this war is for Israel & Saudi Arabia, it is in no way in our national interest & we will oppose it tooth & nail”?
Bollox would they !
We’d have UK troops in & we’d get drawn into a holocaust.
Obama saves us from Middle-East insanity if he does nothing else.
Good point
Any rational person should be relieved that that dangerous assclown Romney was rightly shown the exit door by the American electorate.
The difference between him and Obama is that Obama thinks before he speaks. Obama appeals to all Americans, not just binders of angry white men.
And of course he’ll probably not invade Iran, probably do more to regulate banking, probably try not to export US jobs overseas, probably do more to extend healthcare and probably do more to tackle climate change.
Note that word ‘probably’, mind. What chance would there have been of Romney probably doing similar? Fat chance!
