There's a sickening dimension to today's agreement between the UK and Switzerland that is getting to let thousands of wealthy tax criminals off the hook - without them ever being held to account or even having to admit to their crimes.
At the moment the UK government is turning this deliberate blind eye to massive, large scale, organised looting of the UK's tax system it is also bringing criminal charges against more than thirty young people who recently took part in a in a wholly peaceful UK Uncut demonstration against tax avoidance.
They are facing criminal charges in the UK for having leaflets condemning tax avoiders when at exactly the same time the government was negotiating a deal to make sure that tax criminals were let off without ever facing the consequences of their crime.
This is a sickening indictment of the UK criminal justice system, our respect for free speech, the values of this government and the fact that we live in a society where it is now a crime to criticise the criminality that did and does pervade much of the financial services sector that deliberately promotes tax havens to facilitate crime of the sort which those using Switzerland have just been excused of.
No wonder people are angry.
They have every right to be.
We are being led by moral cowards who excuse crime whilst prosecuting those who exercise the supposed human right of free speech to criticise those facilitating it.
It's Cameroon and Osborne who should be in the dock, not the Fortnum and Mason's protesters from UK Uncut.

This demonstrates that we do not function as a true democracy anymore and that the country is ran for the benefit of corporations and capital.
Any country that had a spine would come down hard on this open fraud. Of course, when our media keeps perpetuating the myths about the wonders of capitalism and the so-called “free market” and any alternatives to these myths are effectively denigrated, is it any wonder people have trouble seeing through the whole sorry edifice?
But this country has never functioned as a democracy !
Once the voting is over the winner ignores the manifesto parts is didn’t want anyway, but had to insert to win, and institutes policies that were never in a manifesto because if they were they would not have won.
In the present case neither ruling party won, so nothing said/printed matters anyway.
Democracy only allows the illusion of people thinking they are free and in control while the same “ruling class” exists that always existed….only now they are in suits instead of ermine and silk.
Nothing has really changed in the last fifty years…..the rich still rule the roost…but by proxy now….through their servants: the politicians.

Tax evasion is still a crime.
It is just that nobody is going to enforce the law against the criminals that evade tax.
The reality is that the criminals will just move their money somewhere else, and the swiss will charge for that so not lose much….maybe they will set-up the other banks to move the money to ?
If the government of the country will not enforce the laws of the country, then anarchy [the malignant sort] will rule.
Obviously that will not be reported in the sort of newspapers that the paye workers read.
