Taking some time out means some things worth commenting on get ignored at the time they occur. It also makes you appreciate the things really worth writing about.
Coming into both categories are some first rate blogs from Dennis Howlett posted in the last week on the challenge he thinks accountancy practices are facing now, but which most seem wholly unaware of. I think Dennis is way ahead of the curve on this stuff — and probably the clearest thinker on the issue that there is. I strongly recommend a review of blogs here, here, here and here on Dennis’ site to all accountants (and other professionals). Even more, I recommend thinking hard about how to act on what he says.

Thanks for the ‘bigging up.’ You are way too kind Richard. Hope that at least some practitioners ‘get it.’
@Dennis Howlett
Not bigged up – I read these ion the Blackberry on holiday and marked them as ‘must blogs’ for my return
I still don’t think the profession has any idea what is needed of it
Mind you I can say much of the private sector as a whole right now
How can it be that innovation is so limited?
How can we have a generation who know they’re not getting what they want and yet aren’t changing corporations?
Is it the burden of debt that drives them into fearful compliance and entrepreneurial inactivity?
It’s the false security of tenure that keeps professionals from acting. Waiting until the Millennials become clients – then the profession will get a nasty shock.
