Austerity is: psycopathy.
I think a ‘caring’ party is very badly needed in the UK. I suggest the motto: we give a shit, which would be immediately recognisable and might well catch on. I’m sure I’ve come across t-shirts with ‘I give a shit’ printed on. We already know that the Tories, Labour, and Reform couldn’t possibly adopt such a motto without making themselves even more of a laughing stock than they already are. That leaves Libdems, Greens, SNP and Independents to join with the idea and avowed intention of actually giving a shit. Does anyone see any mileage in this? I’m not jesting, by the way.
I like it
Presumably your idea of caring is for somebody else to fund higher benefits?
That would be a consequence. And we would all be richer as a result.
Perhaps on the back it could say “No more Ofcrap”
🙂
If you are not familiar with Thomas Herndon, he was the person who discovered that a key paper supporting austerity … was mathematically flawed. It was the paper which David Cameron and George Osborne cited for justifying their austerity measures.
“The case for cuts was a lie. Why does Britain still believe it? The austerity delusion” (2015)

Austerity is: psychopathy.
“Austerity is understanding that there is no magic money tree”.
Moorland, 2010
But that just shows just how stupid those who believe in asuterity are, because of course our governmenmnt can and does create money every day. On your argument, believing in austerity requires that you suspend your belief in reality, but that of course is what most economists do.
Austerity is the working life of 2 generations now.
Chaos will ensue when you damage generations like this.
