It's been a busy weekend, not least because of the generosity of so many people here.
But, that said, time was taken out. We were at Welney yesterday and today. Good birding, even if not notable for rareities. But this picture includes a group of ruff and black tailed godwit wading at the bottom right:
The sheep had got the message about the heat and hid under the bridge:
This teasel was magnificent in front of the main hide:
And then last night we went into the city for a drink because it was finally cool enough to go for a walk.
It's always important to remind myself that I live near this extraordinary building:
This window was catching the light:
I admit, this is a good place to live.

Yes, it’s so vital to feel grateful for the good things we have.
I remember as a teenager feeling overwhelmed by all the suffering in the world, Vietnam, Biafra, Apartheid, Civil rights in the US….so much to put right. I resolved then that the only way to cope was to do what good I could, in whatever small ways that I could, but also, instead of feeling guilty, to always be thankful for the good things in my life and to be aware of how precious they are.
This evening I went to an extraordinary concert, an acapella choir in a small Cambridgeshire church – it was so beautiful, the songs so moving and meaningful….then I came out into the golden evening light. How lucky I am.
