I mentioned earlier this week that we had decided to continue making videos for the Christmas period.
53,895 people watched videos here on Christmas Day. That is, unsurprisingly, down from usual, which is around 90,000, but many more than I expected.
Yesterday looks to have been very slightly more.
People do not stop thinking for Christmas. I think we did the right thing.

I doubt a gong of (imperial) honour will be forthcoming for you, but we do need public intellectuals ‘speaking truth to power’ (to use the title of lecture by Edward Said in his 1993 Reith Lectures, Representations of the Intellectual (https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/series/p00gmx4c?partner=uk.co.bbc&origin=share-mobile or

I can think of number of helpful and informative economists whose work sits in the tradition of the public intellectual (such as John Kenneth Galbraith, for example) who enable people to critically reflect on economics, society, public health, politics. The number of people tuning in shows you clearly rank highly among them.
