It’s a shame the Times has a paywall because they’ve done a really good comparison on pages 4 and five today of the tax gap, comparing the calculations of H M Revenue & Customs with the other authority on the issue they could find — called Tax Research UK.
Rightly so.
As they say, this country deserves a first rate tax authority that collects the tax due to it. I’m not noted for agreeing with the Murdoch press. But it has to happen sometimes.
