I am aware of the time, not quite delivering as I would want on this blog at present.
New papers in the Taxing Wealth Report series are not coming out as often as I would wish. I have now run out of those that I was working on before publication began.
I have not had time to edit a couple of contributions that I have received.
Moderation is sometimes slower than I would want.
All I can do, is apologise for the fact that I have a substantial amount of work on, and something has to give.
Right now I am working on:
- A major academic grant application.
- Data for a new academic paper, whilst also contributing to a couple more as co-author.
- Increased media demand because of the Taxing Wealth Report (I am in London, recording, today).
- A paper on the future direction of tax justice.
Discussions with Molly Scott Cato from the Green Party have also made good progress: I think we have a meeting of minds.
And routine commitments continue.
As a result please forgive delays. Everything will get done in the end, but many things I would like to do seem constrained by an absence of time right now. Such is life.

From now on anyone who hates the idea of voting for tory1 or tory2 can vote Green.
It still surprises me that so few people do in by-elections. That’s always a time when you can because it is not going to make a difference as far as the overall state of parliament is concerned. The Greens lost their deposits last week.
I have always voted Green in local council elections. It’s the only occasion when I feel that my votes can really count thanks to traditionally low turn outs and over the years “my councillors” have done a great job.
At long last, after their success in Mid Suffolk, the Greens tails are up and I am confident that they can now make major gains here in the abominable Coffey’s constituency. If Richard can influence their economic understanding then even better.
Likewise pleased to hear you’re in discussions with Professor (!) ‘MSC’, Richard. Especially if that means she will understand that the ‘Positive Money’ idea is impractical, at least as a credible policy for a government in the real world.
In the last European elections I voted for Molly Scott Cato. She got elected. My choice for MP hasn’t been elected in over 40 years.
My main memory of her is being in the European parliament and Richard Tice of the Brexit Party asking her if she was a qualified economist.
I can’t quite recall what she said but I can recall she was polite, suggesting he could have looked her up and if he had done so found she had been a professor. The leader of the Brexit Party , now the Reform party, was made to look as silly as he is.
I remember that. A nice moment. I hope she enjoyed it.

No longer can politicians say TINA (there is no alternative). No longer can lazy journalists floor ill prepared progressive politicians by asking “where is the money coming from”. You have shown a lot of money is available from simple, fair, tax changes.
I don’t agree with all your suggestions. But you have undeniably demonstrated the important point that money is available.

The trouble is, most of the work is not here and (without being arrogant) is pretty cutting edge – it is genuine research thinking meaning that half the time you are flying blind, working on a hunch and that is hard to delegate.
