Jeremy Hunt pleaded for his job as Health Secretary yesterday, and kept it.
Why did he plead? For those on trolleys in A&E? I don't think so.
No: I am sure he pleaded for Branson to get more contracts.
And I'll guarantee that he pleaded for the new Accountable Care Organisations (ACOs) that are anything but that and are instead the Trojan horse for widespread private control of our health service.
My belief is that he pleaded for the vision of Redwood and Letwin that I explained here.
And he won his case. He kept his job despite all his failings.
And that's because the case for privatisation won.
Yesterday was a bad one for the NHS.

There are lists of MP’s and Peers who have links with, act for, or have received donations from private health care companies. They then vote for privatisation. Corruption?
I believe bribery and corruption are rife, how can it be right to promise money to somebody if they vote for you. Money is talking too much here. Too many people who are greedy and do not want to share their wealth in any shape or form and their catchphrase should be I’m alright Jack to hell with everyone else. This government is working against the poor, disabled and less able, and all the orinary people considered to be the lower classes and working for the wealthy.
Corruption? – no treason actually. Hunt & co want a US-style system which for most people will deliver a demonstrably worse result. I say demonstrably since the “experiment” continues to run & produce “results” in the USA – anybody with basic literacy can “read all about it”. Thus Hunt & Co knowlingly intend to make many/most UK citizens suffer – if/when they need medical treatment. Treason is when you betray the interests of your country – Hunt & Co are doing exactly that – committing treason by betraying the interests of UK citizens (which form “the country” – without citizens the Uk is just a lump of rock & soil). I wonder if an action against Hunt, in court, for treason would stand up? Any lawyers out there got a view?
I wonder why I am possessed of a mental image of a particular character from David Copperfield when considering our Health Minister. Come to that the entire cabinet could find a fitting place in Dickens’ canon.
I’d rather they be in front of a cannon to be honest – Dickens’ or not.
This scandal is much greater than the MP expenses scandal. Which mainstream news organisation will be the first to break it? It should easily be enough to get Corbyn and Labour over the line at the next election to save the NHS. Which is probably why the bought and paid for mainstream media will give it a wide berth.

A replay of the enclosure acts – nothing more, nothing less – with those voting in favour directly benefitting. Zero has changed in the House of Commons in 360 years – with respect to legislating for self interest………with politicos noses in various troughs & with the Tories having the biggest noses – they had them then, they have them now. Back then a lack of the franchise kept the population supine (with the military always usefully on hand) , now the media does the same job.
Your’s is a worthy theory and probably has some truth to it. I nonetheless see this as being an indication that a leadership challenge may be in offing. If that is so I suspect that the ever unpopular Mr Hunt has retained his role in return for his loyalty and the loyalty of those that he can bring with him.
The potential challenge need not be certain or soon but more likely a contingency that depends on polls and Brexit outcomes, The challengers would want to be ready in advance (and so would the defenders). Any suggestion that Hunt’s loyalties lie elsewhere, whether true or not, may be of no consequence with respect to the horse-trading that would unfold when this lot come unstuck.
