These are my links for February 4th through February 5th:
- Senate votes down tax break for Lilly, others | IndyStar.com | The Indianapolis Star - Repatriation of profits has been rejected
Thank goodness
- FT.com / Companies / Financial Services - SEC ‘illiteracy’ to blame for Madoff affair - They were taught to think that greed is good
We have to think another way
But be warned: those who do are ridiculed
- FT.com / UK / Business - Law firm partners face axe as cuts continue - The mighty are fallen
- FT.com / Companies / Banks - US credit card delinquencies at record high - The next debt crisis is on its way
- FT.com / Brussels - Brussels signals rethink on labour rules - Scrap all progress towards Doha for a start
- Brown backs international action on tax avoiders | - That would require a serious change of his spots
Given that the evidence is signing some toothless tax information exchange agreements I am not inclined to think it has happened
- Hypocrisy and the double standard | Cayman News Service - Tim Ridley, former chairman of the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority is a man with whom I don't agree on much - but with whom I can do business.
He's right on tax cheats and Delaware in this one and its beholden on me to say so.
He's also very, very wrong on the benefits of offshore, as usual. Some things don't change. 🙂
- Taxpayers’ Alliance gives green light to corporate tax avoiders : Labourist | Where open minded people come together - Amusing
And I'm sure it's true
- William Brittain-Catlin: How offshore capitalism ate our economies - and itself | - If I'm honest, this is not wholly accurate
But it's worth a read
- EC announces plans to crackdown on cross-border tax evasion - Accountancy Age - But this has to be extended to tax havens covered by the EU STD as well
